2-Days Ngorongoro & Tarangire Safari
Tour Overview
Set off on a memorable 2-day safari from Arusha and experience some of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife and landscapes in a short but rewarding journey. Your adventure begins in Tarangire National Park, where vast herds of elephants roam among ancient baobab trees and the savannah feels wild and untouched. Game drives here are relaxed and immersive, offering plenty of chances to watch animals up close in their natural habitat.
The journey continues to the Ngorongoro Crater, a place that truly feels like nowhere else on Earth. Descending into the crater is an experience in itself, and once on the floor you’ll find an incredible concentration of wildlife, including lions, buffalo, elephants, and, with some luck, the rare black rhino. Day by Day
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Arusha, heading southwest toward Tarangire National Park. Known for its vast landscapes and diverse ecosystems, Tarangire is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The park is renowned for its massive elephant herds, some of the largest in Africa, as well as the striking baobab trees that dot the scenery, creating an almost prehistoric ambiance.
As you traverse the park’s winding trails, keep your eyes peeled for a variety of wildlife, including lions lounging under acacia trees, elusive leopards hidden in the thick foliage, and graceful giraffes grazing alongside zebras and wildebeests. The Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline, attracts an abundance of animals, making for exceptional game-viewing experiences. Bird lovers will also delight in spotting over 500 avian species, from vibrant lilac-breasted rollers to powerful martial eagles.
Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the serene surroundings, soaking in the raw beauty of nature. The afternoon is filled with more exhilarating game drives, allowing you to explore different sections of the park before making your way toward your overnight retreat. As the sun sets, arrive at the charming Marera Valley Lodge or Farm of Dreams Lodge, where you will unwind in comfort and indulge in a delicious dinner under the star-studded African sky.
Wake up to a scenic sunrise before descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World." This volcanic caldera is a self-contained ecosystem, home to an astonishing density of wildlife.
Why Ngorongoro Crater is a Must-See:
- Big Five Sightings: Spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos in their natural habitat.
- Pristine Landscapes: From lush forests to open grasslands and soda lakes, the crater’s scenery is breathtaking.
- Rare Wildlife: Look out for endangered black rhinos and massive hippos wallowing in the waters.
- Maasai Culture: Encounter the Maasai people, known for their vibrant traditions and deep connection to the land.
Enjoy a game drive across the crater floor, where every turn reveals a new spectacle—cheetahs sprinting, hyenas scavenging, and flamingos painting the lakes pink. A picnic lunch by the hippo pool adds a magical touch before your journey back to Arusha.
